The ultra-long range Bombardier Global Express twin-turbofan corporate jet is designed to meet the transportation needs of business and government leaders in an increasingly global environment. The Bombardier Global Express entered corporate service in 1999, and features the largest cabin of any purpose built aircraft either flying or planned, 48ft 4in in length and 8ft 2in in width.
Performance highlights include flying eight passengers and four crew 6,010 nautical miles (11,130km) at a cruise speed just below sonic level at Mach 0.85 (562mph/904km/h), on routes such as Los Angeles-Beijing, Seoul-New York and Chicago-Tokyo in about 12 and a half hours. It is certified to the latest and most stringent regulations by both European and North American airworthiness authorities.
Bombardier Aerospace in Northern Ireland is responsible for the design and manufacture of the forward fuselage, tailcone, airstairs, wing to fuselage fairings and other components for the Bombardier Global Express. The nacelles for the Rolls-Royce engine that powers the Bombardier Global Express are also designed and manufactured in Belfast, as is the all-composite horizontal stabiliser, which has been developed using the very latest in CAD/ CAM technology.
